Marvin’s Musings 7/5/20

October 16, 2020 By Church Secretary Leave a Comment

This Fourth of July weekend is a time to celebrate, safely with distance and masks. It is a time to remember the high ideals our founders gave us, and to remember the example and teachings of Jesus who gave us similar high ideals. Our forebears pledged their lies, liberty and sacred honor that we might be free and self governed. Jesus gave his life that we might be free and self-disciplined.
What do the ideals of freedom and liberty mean to you? A variety of understandings and interpretations of freedom and liberty had to be brought together in 1776 and the following years. We are still struggling with what those concepts mean and how they affect us.
