Pastoral Search Committee
The committee is charged with finding the church's next pastor. While working closely with Conference Staff, namely Susan Dickerman, they have assembled a survey for the congregation to have input into the process. Much work will go into completing the Congregational Profile, the church's resume of sorts, including highlights of church life, demographic information, mission, vision, budget, and a description of values. After completing the profile, the committee begins to sort through Pastoral Candidates' Profiles, attempting to match the gifts and needs of the congregation with those of clergy. In the final stages of the search and call process, candidates who become finalists will participate in telephone interviews, face-to-face interviews, and worship leadership in a "neutral pulpit." Having selected a candidate, the committee will present her/him to the congregation. That person will spend several days to experience the life of the church, meet with members, and lead worship. The congregation then has a meeting to discern whether the candidate is who God has called to be its next pastoral leader. When affirmed, we will welcome the new pastor, and have an Association celebration to install the new pastor. This process averages 1-2 years with meetings almost every week during that time. Members commune, pray together and continually update the congregation on their progress. TCC-UCC has been blessed with an energetic, spiritually deep committee and has the gratitude of the entire congregation.
